describe-effective-patches-for-patch-baseline

Description

Retrieves the current effective patches (the patch and the approval state) for the specified patch baseline. Note that this API applies only to Windows patch baselines.

describe-effective-patches-for-patch-baseline is a paginated operation. Multiple API calls may be issued in order to retrieve the entire data set of results. You can disable pagination by providing the --no-paginate argument. When using --output text and the --query argument on a paginated response, the --query argument must extract data from the results of the following query expressions: EffectivePatches

Options

--baseline-id (string)

The ID of the patch baseline to retrieve the effective patches for.

--cli-input-json | --cli-input-yaml (string) Reads arguments from the JSON string provided. The JSON string follows the format provided by --generate-cli-skeleton. If other arguments are provided on the command line, those values will override the JSON-provided values. It is not possible to pass arbitrary binary values using a JSON-provided value as the string will be taken literally. This may not be specified along with --cli-input-yaml.

--starting-token (string)

A token to specify where to start paginating. This is the NextToken from a previously truncated response.

--page-size (integer)

The size of each page to get in the AWS service call. This does not affect the number of items returned in the command’s output. Setting a smaller page size results in more calls to the AWS service, retrieving fewer items in each call. This can help prevent the AWS service calls from timing out.

--max-items (integer)

The total number of items to return in the command’s output. If the total number of items available is more than the value specified, a NextToken is provided in the command’s output. To resume pagination, provide the NextToken value in the starting-token argument of a subsequent command. Do not use the NextToken response element directly outside of the AWS CLI.

--generate-cli-skeleton (string) Prints a JSON skeleton to standard output without sending an API request. If provided with no value or the value input, prints a sample input JSON that can be used as an argument for --cli-input-json. Similarly, if provided yaml-input it will print a sample input YAML that can be used with --cli-input-yaml. If provided with the value output, it validates the command inputs and returns a sample output JSON for that command.

--cli-auto-prompt (boolean) Automatically prompt for CLI input parameters.

Output

EffectivePatches -> (list)

An array of patches and patch status.

(structure)

The EffectivePatch structure defines metadata about a patch along with the approval state of the patch in a particular patch baseline. The approval state includes information about whether the patch is currently approved, due to be approved by a rule, explicitly approved, or explicitly rejected and the date the patch was or will be approved.

Patch -> (structure)

Provides metadata for a patch, including information such as the KB ID, severity, classification and a URL for where more information can be obtained about the patch.

Id -> (string)

The ID of the patch (this is different than the Microsoft Knowledge Base ID).

ReleaseDate -> (timestamp)

The date the patch was released.

Title -> (string)

The title of the patch.

Description -> (string)

The description of the patch.

ContentUrl -> (string)

The URL where more information can be obtained about the patch.

Vendor -> (string)

The name of the vendor providing the patch.

ProductFamily -> (string)

The product family the patch is applicable for (for example, Windows).

Product -> (string)

The specific product the patch is applicable for (for example, WindowsServer2016).

Classification -> (string)

The classification of the patch (for example, SecurityUpdates, Updates, CriticalUpdates).

MsrcSeverity -> (string)

The severity of the patch (for example Critical, Important, Moderate).

KbNumber -> (string)

The Microsoft Knowledge Base ID of the patch.

MsrcNumber -> (string)

The ID of the MSRC bulletin the patch is related to.

Language -> (string)

The language of the patch if it’s language-specific.

PatchStatus -> (structure)

The status of the patch in a patch baseline. This includes information about whether the patch is currently approved, due to be approved by a rule, explicitly approved, or explicitly rejected and the date the patch was or will be approved.

DeploymentStatus -> (string)

The approval status of a patch (APPROVED, PENDING_APPROVAL, EXPLICIT_APPROVED, EXPLICIT_REJECTED).

ComplianceLevel -> (string)

The compliance severity level for a patch.

ApprovalDate -> (timestamp)

The date the patch was approved (or will be approved if the status is PENDING_APPROVAL).

NextToken -> (string)

The token to use when requesting the next set of items. If there are no additional items to return, the string is empty.
