create-dashboard

Description

Creates a dashboard in an IoT SiteWise Monitor project.

See also: AWS API Documentation

See ‘aws help’ for descriptions of global parameters.

Synopsis

  create-dashboard
--project-id <value>
--dashboard-name <value>
[--dashboard-description <value>]
--dashboard-definition <value>
[--client-token <value>]
[--tags <value>]
[--cli-input-json | --cli-input-yaml]
[--generate-cli-skeleton <value>]

Options

--project-id (string)

The ID of the project in which to create the dashboard.

--dashboard-name (string)

A friendly name for the dashboard.

--dashboard-description (string)

A description for the dashboard.

--dashboard-definition (string)

The dashboard definition specified in a JSON literal. For detailed information, see Creating dashboards (CLI) in the IoT SiteWise User Guide .

--client-token (string)

A unique case-sensitive identifier that you can provide to ensure the idempotency of the request. Don’t reuse this client token if a new idempotent request is required.

--tags (map)

A list of key-value pairs that contain metadata for the dashboard. For more information, see Tagging your IoT SiteWise resources in the IoT SiteWise User Guide .

key -> (string)

value -> (string)

Shorthand Syntax:

KeyName1=string,KeyName2=string

JSON Syntax:

{"string": "string"
  ...}

--cli-input-json | --cli-input-yaml (string) Reads arguments from the JSON string provided. The JSON string follows the format provided by --generate-cli-skeleton. If other arguments are provided on the command line, those values will override the JSON-provided values. It is not possible to pass arbitrary binary values using a JSON-provided value as the string will be taken literally. This may not be specified along with --cli-input-yaml.

--generate-cli-skeleton (string) Prints a JSON skeleton to standard output without sending an API request. If provided with no value or the value input, prints a sample input JSON that can be used as an argument for --cli-input-json. Similarly, if provided yaml-input it will print a sample input YAML that can be used with --cli-input-yaml. If provided with the value output, it validates the command inputs and returns a sample output JSON for that command.

See ‘aws help’ for descriptions of global parameters.

Examples

To create a dashboard

The following create-dashboard example creates a dashboard with a line chart that displays total generated power for a wind farm.

aws iotsitewise create-dashboard \
    --project-id a1b2c3d4-5678-90ab-cdef-eeeeeEXAMPLE \
    --dashboard-name "Wind Farm" \
    --dashboard-definition file://create-wind-farm-dashboard.json

Contents of create-wind-farm-dashboard.json:

{
    "widgets": [
        {
            "type": "monitor-line-chart",
            "title": "Generated Power",
            "x": 0,
            "y": 0,
            "height": 3,
            "width": 3,
            "metrics": [
                {
                    "label": "Power",
                    "type": "iotsitewise",
                    "assetId": "a1b2c3d4-5678-90ab-cdef-44444EXAMPLE",
                    "propertyId": "a1b2c3d4-5678-90ab-cdef-99999EXAMPLE"
                }
            ]
        }
    ]
}

Output:

{
    "dashboardId": "a1b2c3d4-5678-90ab-cdef-fffffEXAMPLE",
    "dashboardArn": "arn:aws:iotsitewise:us-west-2:123456789012:dashboard/a1b2c3d4-5678-90ab-cdef-fffffEXAMPLE"
}

For more information, see Creating dashboards (CLI) in the AWS IoT SiteWise User Guide.

Output

dashboardId -> (string)

The ID of the dashboard.

dashboardArn -> (string)

The ARN of the dashboard, which has the following format.

arn:${Partition}:iotsitewise:${Region}:${Account}:dashboard/${DashboardId}
