You can filter the results using ResourceId

describe-scaling-policies
is a paginated operation. Multiple API calls may be issued in order to retrieve the entire data set of results. You can disable pagination by providing the --no-paginate
argument.

--starting-token

A token to specify where to start paginating. This is the
NextToken
from a previously truncated response.For usage examples, see Pagination in the AWS Command Line Interface User Guide .
--page-size
(integer)
The size of each page to get in the AWS service call. This does not affect the number of items returned in the command’s output. Setting a smaller page size results in more calls to the AWS service, retrieving fewer items in each call. This can help prevent the AWS service calls from timing out.

--max-items
(integer)
The total number of items to return in the command’s output. If the total number of items available is more than the value specified, a
NextToken
is provided in the command’s output. To resume pagination, provide theNextToken
value in thestarting-token
argument of a subsequent command. Do not use theNextToken

--generate-cli-skeleton
(string)
Prints a JSON skeleton to standard output without sending an API request. If provided with no value or the value input
, prints a sample input JSON that can be used as an argument for --cli-input-json
. Similarly, if provided yaml-input
it will print a sample input YAML that can be used with --cli-input-yaml
. If provided with the value output
, it validates the command inputs and returns a sample output JSON for that command. The generated JSON skeleton is not stable between versions of the AWS CLI and there are no backwards compatibility guarantees in the JSON skeleton generated.

--no-verify-ssl
(boolean)
By default, the AWS CLI uses SSL when communicating with AWS services. For each SSL connection, the AWS CLI will verify SSL certificates. This option overrides the default behavior of verifying SSL certificates.
--no-paginate

Disable automatic pagination. If automatic pagination is disabled, the AWS CLI will only make one call, for the first page of results.

--cli-binary-format

The formatting style to be used for binary blobs. The default format is base64. The base64 format expects binary blobs to be provided as a base64 encoded string. The raw-in-base64-out format preserves compatibility with AWS CLI V1 behavior and binary values must be passed literally. When providing contents from a file that map to a binary blob fileb://
will always be treated as binary and use the file contents directly regardless of the cli-binary-format
setting. When using file://
the file contents will need to properly formatted for the configured cli-binary-format

AdjustmentType -> (string)
Specifies how the
ScalingAdjustment
value in a StepAdjustment is interpreted (for example, an absolute number or a percentage). The valid values areChangeInCapacity

is required if you are adding a new step scaling policy configuration.StepAdjustments -> (list)
A set of adjustments that enable you to scale based on the size of the alarm breach.
At least one step adjustment is required if you are adding a new step scaling policy configuration.
(structure)
Represents a step adjustment for a StepScalingPolicyConfiguration . Describes an adjustment based on the difference between the value of the aggregated CloudWatch metric and the breach threshold that you’ve defined for the alarm.
For the following examples, suppose that you have an alarm with a breach threshold of 50:
- To initiate the adjustment when the metric is greater than or equal to 50 and less than 60, specify a lower bound of
0
and an upper bound of10
.- To initiate the adjustment when the metric is greater than 40 and less than or equal to 50, specify a lower bound of
-10
and an upper bound of0
.There are a few rules for the step adjustments for your step policy:
- The ranges of your step adjustments can’t overlap or have a gap.
- At most one step adjustment can have a null lower bound. If one step adjustment has a negative lower bound, then there must be a step adjustment with a null lower bound.
- At most one step adjustment can have a null upper bound. If one step adjustment has a positive upper bound, then there must be a step adjustment with a null upper bound.
- The upper and lower bound can’t be null in the same step adjustment.
MetricIntervalLowerBound -> (double)
The lower bound for the difference between the alarm threshold and the CloudWatch metric. If the metric value is above the breach threshold, the lower bound is inclusive (the metric must be greater than or equal to the threshold plus the lower bound). Otherwise, it’s exclusive (the metric must be greater than the threshold plus the lower bound). A null value indicates negative infinity.MetricIntervalUpperBound -> (double)
The upper bound for the difference between the alarm threshold and the CloudWatch metric. If the metric value is above the breach threshold, the upper bound is exclusive (the metric must be less than the threshold plus the upper bound). Otherwise, it’s inclusive (the metric must be less than or equal to the threshold plus the upper bound). A null value indicates positive infinity.
The upper bound must be greater than the lower bound.
ScalingAdjustment -> (integer)
The amount by which to scale, based on the specified adjustment type. A positive value adds to the current capacity while a negative number removes from the current capacity. For exact capacity, you must specify a non-negative value.MinAdjustmentMagnitude -> (integer)
The minimum value to scale by when the adjustment type isPercentChangeInCapacity
. For example, suppose that you create a step scaling policy to scale out an Amazon ECS service by 25 percent and you specify aMinAdjustmentMagnitude
of 2. If the service has 4 tasks and the scaling policy is performed, 25 percent of 4 is 1. However, because you specified aMinAdjustmentMagnitude
of 2, Application Auto Scaling scales out the service by 2 tasks.Cooldown -> (integer)
The amount of time, in seconds, to wait for a previous scaling activity to take effect. If not specified, the default value is 300. For more information, see Cooldown period in the Application Auto Scaling User Guide .MetricAggregationType -> (string)
The aggregation type for the CloudWatch metrics. Valid values areMinimum

.TargetTrackingScalingPolicyConfiguration -> (structure)
A target tracking scaling policy.
TargetValue -> (double)
The target value for the metric. Although this property accepts numbers of type Double, it won’t accept values that are either too small or too large. Values must be in the range of -2^360 to 2^360. The value must be a valid number based on the choice of metric. For example, if the metric is CPU utilization, then the target value is a percent value that represents how much of the CPU can be used before scaling out.

You must specify either a metric pair, or a load metric and a scaling metric individually. Specifying a metric pair instead of individual metrics provides a simpler way to configure metrics for a scaling policy. You choose the metric pair, and the policy automatically knows the correct sum and average statistics to use for the load metric and the scaling metric.
